The year 2025 proved to be a historic year for the provision of timely justice to litigants. It emerged as an important and memorable year in the judicial history of the Lahore High Court with regard to ensuring prompt justice for the public. Under the leadership of Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Aalia Neelum, significant measures were taken to make the judicial system more effective, transparent, and people-friendly.
As a result, not only were a record number of cases decided, but there was also an unprecedented reduction in pending cases.
According to official figures, from January 1 to December 15, 2025, the Lahore High Court decided more than 166,000 cases, which is a record. Due to these decisions, the total number of pending cases in the Lahore High Court has decreased to less than 169,000, which is being termed a welcome development for litigants.
Judicial reforms and effective case management have led to a significant increase in public confidence in the courts. By December 15, more than 139,000 new cases were filed in the Lahore High Court during the year; however, despite this influx, the pace of case disposal was maintained without slowdown.
The Principal Seat at Lahore also demonstrated record performance, where more than 89,000 cases were decided by December 15. The number of pending cases at the Principal Seat has now reduced to around 100,000. During the same period, over 75,000 new cases were instituted at the Principal Seat.
The regional benches of the Lahore High Court also showed outstanding judicial performance. At the Bahawalpur Bench, more than 17,000 cases were decided during the year, reducing the number of pending cases to less than 17,000.
Similarly, at the Multan Bench, over 42,000 cases were decided, while the number of pending cases there has now dropped to less than 34,000.
At the Rawalpindi Bench, more than 17,000 cases were decided by December 15, as a result of which the number of pending cases has been reduced to less than 12,000.
According to legal experts, the judicial oversight, timely hearings of cases, and administrative reforms introduced by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum have accelerated and improved the process of justice delivery. A large number of litigants have also expressed satisfaction with the court’s performance.
Overall, the year 2025 is being regarded as a model year for the Lahore High Court, marked by timely justice, record case disposals, and a historic reduction in pending litigation.
