Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the drone strike as a serious threat to peace, security and stability in the region
Pakistan has voiced its support for Russia after reports of a drone attack on the residence of President Vladimir Putin, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement posted on X platform on Monday morning, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the reported incident and said Pakistan rejects all forms of violence that threaten peace and security.
The prime minister said Pakistan strongly condemned the targeting of President Putin’s residence. He described the alleged act as a serious threat to peace, security and stability, especially at a time when efforts towards peace are under way. Shehbaz Sharif maintained that Pakistan stands in solidarity with the President of the Russian Federation, as well as with the Russian government and its people.
Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s firm opposition to violence and actions that aim to undermine security.
The statement came after US President Donald Trump said he was “very angry" following a conversation with President Putin. Trump said Putin had told him early that Ukraine had tried to attack one of his residences.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed that Ukraine launched 91 drones in the alleged attack, all of which were intercepted by Russian air defence systems.
