The condition of 14-year-old maid Rizwana, who is currently admitted at Lahore’s General Hospital after she was allegedly tortured by a civil judge’s wife in Islamabad, again deteriorated last night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to sources in the medical board, there are fears that her lungs might get affected due to the sepsis factor.
The board, now also consisting of a cardiologist and lungs specialist, will again examine her today.
Somia, wife of civil judge Asim Hafeez, tortured Rizwana as she suspected that the girl had stolen some gold jewellery.
Instead of taking legal action against the teenager, she preferred to take law into her own hands.
Victim’s family, on the other hand, stated that their child had been working as a maid at the civil judge’s house in Islamabad for the past six months.
Furthermore, the family claimed that despite working for six months, Rizwana wasn’t paid a single penny.
While, on the other hand, police said that there were at least 15 torture marks on her body.
The victim was initially shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital before being shifted to Lahore’s General Hospital.
Police said that a torture case had been registered against the judge’s wife at the Police Station Humak on behalf of the girl’s father Manga Khan under Section 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
However, the civil judge denied all the allegations and said that wounds on the girl’s body were the consequence of eating soil from planters kept in his house.
“The girl was working as a maid at our house and ate soil from planters a month ago, which damaged her skin,” he told a private news channel.
He added that the 14-year-old was referred to a doctor in Gujranwala after she was diagnosed with the disease. “But the girl would scratch her wounds when they started healing,” he said.
