Ishaq Dar, Saudi foreign minister discuss Red Sea, Palestine situation

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, with the two sides discussing regional and global developments, the Foreign Office said.

According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, the ministers reviewed the latest situation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a strategically important maritime route linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.

The two leaders also exchanged views on developments concerning Palestine, particularly the situation in East Jerusalem.

During the conversation, they welcomed Jordan’s proposal to convene a meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to discuss the Palestinian situation and developments in East Jerusalem.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on regional and international issues of mutual concern, the spokesperson added.
