Pakistan defeated Korea 3-1 in the opening match of their four-Test hockey series at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Neither side managed to score during the first quarter as both teams remained cautious and struggled to convert their early opportunities.
Pakistan broke the deadlock in the second quarter and soon doubled their advantage with another well-worked goal. Korea responded before the end of the quarter, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
Pakistan regained control in the third quarter and scored their third goal to restore a two-goal lead. Korea failed to add to its tally during the remaining period, allowing the hosts to complete a convincing victory.
Sufyan was the standout performer for Pakistan, scoring two goals, while captain Abu Bakr Mahmood contributed the other goal.
The victory gave Pakistan an early lead in the four-match series and provided the team with momentum ahead of the remaining fixtures.
The second Test between Pakistan and Korea will be played on August 1 at the same venue.
The third Test is scheduled for August 4, while the fourth and final match of the series will be played on August 7.
The series is expected to provide both teams with valuable competitive exposure and an opportunity to assess their combinations ahead of future international assignments.
