Police in Karachi have changed the nature of the murder case registered against Anmol alias Pinky, a drug dealer, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per the final challan submitted by the investigation officer (IO) to court on Thursday, the section related to intentional murder (Qatl-e-Amd) was deleted from the case in light of the chemical report compiled by the Karachi University, and it was replaced by Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which covers Qatl-bis-sabab.
The challan read it had been established in the report that the man had died because of addiction.
However, the challan said that the identity of the deceased could not be established. “His DNA testing cannot be done either,” it added.
The maximum penalty in a murder case is death penalty, while the minimum is life sentence.
Now Pinky would be asked to pay diyat (blood money).
A murder case had been registered against the drug dealer at Baghdadi police station one month after the body was found.
Last week, Pinky had confessed during questioning to operating a drug trafficking network.
Karachi Police submitted a supplementary challan before the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) during proceedings in a narcotics recovery case registered against Anmol Pinky in 2018.
According to the challan, Pinky's brother, Nasir, had already been acquitted in the case.
The report also stated that Pinky had remained a proclaimed fugitive since 2018.
During questioning, she allegedly admitted that she was heading a drug trafficking network, investigators claimed.
Also a week ago, Kamran Murad, Pinky’s brother, had been arrested in a major operation conducted by the Jamshed Quarters police.
Officials said the suspect was taken into custody near Ghora Chowrangi following an intelligence-based operation aimed at dismantling an alleged narcotics network operating in the city.
Police said that more than two kilograms of high-quality hashish were recovered from Murad’s possession.
His phone, wallet, identity card and cash were also seized, the Force added.
Police claimed that the suspect had been supplying hashish, ice and heroin to various parts of Karachi, and that the narcotics network had been actively targeting young people, contributing to the growing problem of drug addiction in the city.
Pinky had been arrested in May 2026 for supplying drugs to people belonging to different walks of life, especially youth.
