The Lahore Police have successfully foiled a major attempt to smuggle kites in the city, arresting two key inter-district dealers red-handed during a delivery, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Zulqarnain intercepted the suspects during a routine patrol in Manawan area. The arrested individuals, identified as Amjad Hussain and Qasim, were caught in the act of delivering a shipment.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Akhtar Nawaz confirmed that officers recovered over 300 high-value kites from the suspects. The seized shipment is estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.
During initial interrogation, the suspects confessed to running an organized supply network across multiple districts. They revealed that they used online maps and digital location-sharing tools to coordinate drop-offs and evade law enforcement.
A formal case has been registered against the dealers, and they have been handed over to the police investigation wing for deeper questioning.
SP Cantt Akhtar Nawaz stated that intelligence-based operations are actively underway to track down and arrest the remaining members of the smuggling ring.
In recognition of the successful raid, the SP announced official commendation certificates for SHO Zulqarnain and his team.
He reiterated that the Lahore Police maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against kite flyers, manufacturers, and sellers to protect citizen lives from dangerous metallic strings.
