Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the interim head coach for Pakistan’s red-ball (Test) cricket team, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
According to the report, he will continue in this position until the end of his current contract, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.
Having previously served as the assistant head coach of the national team, Azhar has long been a vital part of the team’s strategic core.
His elevation to this role is seen as a continuity move by the PCB, leveraging his experience and established rapport with players ahead of upcoming international assignments.
