Pak Army to be deployed for security during Muharram, says Mohsin Naqvi

Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi said on Monday that a comprehensive security plan had been drawn up in view of the holy month of Muharram, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking during his visit to a central imambargah in Sector G-6 of Islamabad, the minister said that miscreants were under the scanner of the authorities and the system of surveillance had been improved.

He was accompanied by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on the occasion. 

He further said that security was on high alert so that the evil designs of the country’s enemies could be foiled. “The deployment of the Pakistan Army in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK has already been approved,” he said, adding, “The army will assist the civil administration in the maintenance of law and order.” 

Naqvi, on the occasion, was given a briefing on the security arrangements made so far.

He reviewed the arrangements for the security of the mourners.

The minister also met with the management of the imambargah and asked about the arrangements.
