Shaukat Nawaz Mir, a core member of the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee, has been arrested, according to sources.
Sources said the operation was launched after authorities received information about Mir's presence in Sangar Phatare, a suburb of Dhirkot.
Acting on intelligence, security personnel raided the house where Mir had reportedly taken shelter. However, he was not present at the location when the raid was conducted.
During the operation, security agencies detained the man who had allegedly provided shelter to Mir.
According to sources, a subsequent search operation was launched in the surrounding area, during which Mir was taken into custody from a nearby forest.
