Another reshuffle in federal bureaucracy on the cards

The federal government has planned to reshuffle the bureaucracy, sources said on Saturday.

The insiders said that change of secretaries of power and petroleum is recommended before the release of IPPs probe report, which was deferred for two months on May 7.

The change will be notified as soon as Prime Minister Imran Khan gives go-ahead. Irfan Ali, grade 22, has been serving as petroleum secretary for two years they said, adding that the names of Commerce Secretary Yousaf Naseem Khokhar and Muhammad Ali are being considered for the post, it is learnt.

The sources added Asad Hayauddin is likely to be commerce secretary.

Through a circulation, the cabinet okayed the reappointment of ex-food secretary Hashim Popalzai as managing director of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

PM Imran Khan removed Hashim Popalzai from the post of food secretary following the FIA reported his involved in sugar scam in April.
