Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif phoned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and greeted him on re-election.
The PM expressed his best wishes to the Turkish president, saying: “Your re-election is a recognition of your commitment and exemplary public services.
President Erdoğan has been re-elected with 52.16 per cent of the votes after defeating the joint opposition in the May 28 election.
Shehbaz said: “Turkey made remarkable progress under your leadership in the last two decades.
“I believe that under your wise and visionary leadership, Turkey will continue its journey on the path of development and prosperity
“I believe that Turkey will play an even more effective role for peace and stability in the region and the Islamic world
“Your personal commitment to further strengthen and deepen the special relationship between Pakistan and Turkey is encouraging.
He continued: We are determined to work together with you to strengthen the bilateral brotherly relations between the two countries in the coming days.
“Both countries are keen to hold the seventh meeting of the high-level Strategic Cooperative Council soon.
“I look forward to welcoming you to Pakistan to attend the meeting
“Your arrival will further promote the strategic partnership of the two brotherly countries in multilateral fields.
Erdoğan thanked Prime Shahbaz Sharif and expressed his best wishes to the government and the people of Pakistan.
