The Punjab government has distributed cheques amounting to Rs6.75 million among ten bar associations of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Punjab Minister for Law Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth invited the representatives of divisional bar associations to Lahore and distributed cheques among them.
A grant worth Rs10 million was given to the divisional bar association, while Rs5 million was granted to the district bar association and Rs2.5 million was given to the tehsil bar association.
Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) and president and general secretary of the respective bar associations were also present on the occasion.
A cheque of Rs5 million was given to President Talagang Bar Association in the presence of MPA Shehyar Ahmad.
A cheque of Rs10 million was given to President D.G. Khan Bar Association Abdul Ghani in the presence of MPAs Usman Leghari and Ahmad Khan Leghari.
A cheque of Rs10 million was also awarded to general secretary of Gujrat Bar Association Ishtiaq Warriach in the presence of Provincial Minister for Industries Chaudhary Shafay Hussain was also present.
A cheque of Rs2.5 million was awarded to Shorkot Bar Association President Akhtar Jahanian in the presence of MPA Nawab Tahir Abbas and Ghazanfar Ali Quresshi.
Rs10 million cheque was awarded to Malik Saeed Ahmad President Sahiwal Bar Association.
Rs5 mllion cheque was given to Murree Bar Association President Nazeer Abbasi.
Rs5 million cheque was awarded to President Khanewal Bar Association Chaudhary Iftikhar.
Rs10 million cheque was given to President Rajanpur Bar Association Nadeem Saqib. MPA Sardar Awais Deereshak was also present.
Addressing the gathering Provincial Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth said that first time in the history of Punjab grants were given to bar association.
He said that construction on female bar room will be completed soon. He said that these grants will pave way for solving outstanding problem of lawyers.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth said that an intern programme will be started soon for the young lawyers.
On this occasion all MPA and president of bar associations thanked the minister for solving financial issues of the lawyers community.
The presidents of bar associations said that Punjab government distributed this grant purely on merit.
He also thanked the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for approval of grant. Secretary Law Punjab Asif Bilal Lodhi and other high ranking officials were also present.
