Pakistani actor, director and producer Shaan Shahid opened up about why he turned down a role in the Bollywood film Ghajini during an interview.

Speaking about the offer, Shaan revealed that his main concern was the way Pakistani characters are often portrayed in Bollywood films.

He explained that he felt filmmakers look towards Pakistan when searching for negative or villainous characters.

Shaan believes this trend has become a repetitive stereotype.

He argued that villains can come from anywhere in the world, but Pakistan is repeatedly used as a convenient reference point for such roles.

The Psycho actor described this approach as a cliché.

During the conversation, Shaan further shared that he was told the role was a strong character, but he remained unconvinced.

Referring to the country's green passport, he remarked that it often feels as though Pakistani identity alone is enough for some people to associate a person with negative characters.

He stated that this mindset contributes to unfair perceptions about Pakistan.
