The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published a list of Afghan nationals involved in criminal activities, raising concerns about the vetting of migrants who arrived during the Biden administration, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to DHS, several individuals have been admitted to committing serious crimes, including shootings at police officers, sexual assault, and terrorist-related activities.
The department revealed that some of those on the terrorism watch list were permitted to remain in the United States, highlighting gaps in oversight.
Among the individuals named, Jamal Wali and Mohammad Khurwin were released, only to later engage in violent crimes.
Wali, for instance, shot at two police officers in Virginia and was subsequently killed during the police response.
DHS emphasised that the Biden administration had initially vetted the individuals now listed, but those deemed a continuing threat to public safety will be removed from the country.
