Iran’s airline, Iran Air, on Thursday began its flight operation from Mashhad and Zahidan to Quetta and vice versa, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In this connection, a ceremony was held at Quetta International Airport to receive the first flight from Zahidan.
Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail also attended the ceremony.
Others who attended the ceremony were Iran’s Consul General Muhammad Kareemi, provincial ministers Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Haji Barkat Rind, members of Balochistan Assembly, and senior government officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the flight operation between Pakistan and Iran would prove useful for strengthening ties between the two countries besides increasing trade and cultural links. “It will also lead to a new era of cooperation and development in the region,” he said, and added, “Today is the day of bliss for both Iran and Pakistan.
Iran’s consul general, in his speech, said that he was excited that direct flights would now operate between Quetta and Iranian cities. “Both Pakistan and Iran are brotherly Islamic countries and Iran has always stood by Pakistan,” he added.
