Voting for Senate seat vacated by Shibli Faraz is under way in KP Assembly

The by-election battle for the general seat of the Senate as voting process is continued in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday. 

According to the Election Commission spokesperson, the polling for the by-election will continue uninterrupted until 4 pm. 

There is a one-on-one contest between the two candidates of the government and the opposition. 

PTI-backed Khurram Zeeshan and Taj Muhammad Afridi of the opposition parties are joint candidates. 

The total number of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly members is 145 while 73 votes are required to win the vacant Senate seat. 

The number of government members is 92 and the opposition members are 53. 

This seat was vacated due to the disqualification of Shibli Faraz. 

However, the ANP has decided not to participate in the elections.
