The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Tuesday announced a strike against Karachi-Electric (K-Electric), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Javed Balwani, the KCCI president, however, stated that the strike date would be announced later.

He said that despite the payment of Rs20 per unit under the capacity and the PHL charges, loadshedding was not tolerable to them. “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should come and tell why only Karachi is deprived of electricity,” he said, adding, “A step-motherly attitude is being meted out to the city.”

He lamented that the city’s markets and shopping centers experienced power outages for hours.

Balwani informed that he had written a letter to the federal minister for energy and the NEPRA in order to convey the KCCI’s concerns over the issue. “If the prime minister does not give an explanation, then the entire city will be shut down,” he warned.
