An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police embraced martyrdom when some unidentified assailants who were riding a motorcycle opened fire on him in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said that the incident occurred during resistance in a dacoity attempt in Bhains Colony located in Karachi.
The SSP said that the martyred ASI was going home after performing his duties.
The victim, Qaisar Ali, was performing his duties in Saudabad Police Station, Karachi.
All assistants escaped from the scene, leaving behind their motorcycle. Later, the police team took custody of the motorcycle.
Soon after receiving the report, the police team rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body of ASI to the hospital.
Police started an investigation into the incident.
