The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has assured the delegation of Awami National Party (ANP) that general elections will be held in February next year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The ECP continues consultations with the political parties on the electoral process in the country, official sources said.
Besides ANP, a delegation of the Balochistan Awami Party (BNP) also met the chief election commissioner (ECP) and the ECP members today.
The ANP was invited for a meeting at half past eleven while the BNP was invited at two o’clock.
The delegations of both political parties were consulted regarding the schedule and date of the elections.
Consultations were also held on the roadmap for the upcoming elections.
It also merits a mention here that the ECP has also sent an invitation to Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) for August 31.
The delegations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have already held consultations with the ECP.
