The Meteorological Department has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers in several parts of the country tonight and on Monday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in northern and northeastern regions.
According to the advisory, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper and Central Punjab, and Islamabad are likely to receive rain, while heavy downpours are expected in parts of Kashmir, Upper KP, and northeastern Punjab. Other regions are likely to remain dry.
In Islamabad, partly cloudy skies with thundershowers and chances of heavy rainfall are predicted.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and thunderstorms are expected in districts including Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Khyber, Mohmand, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan, with heavy showers at isolated locations.
In Punjab, thundershowers are forecast for Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and several other districts, with heavy downpours in northeastern and DG Khan regions.
In Sindh, hot and humid weather will persist across most areas, though evening or nighttime rain is expected in Sanghar, Ghotki, Mirpur Khas, Tharparkar and Umerkot.
In Balochistan, hot and humid conditions will prevail, while Zhob, Musikhel and Barkhan may experience isolated thundershowers.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms.
Authorities have warned of possible flooding in Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Nowshera, Swabi, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, DG Khan and adjoining rivers. Landslides may disrupt traffic in hilly areas of KP, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir.
Low-lying areas in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Peshawar, Nowshera and Mardan are at risk of urban flooding. The Met Office also cautioned that heavy rain and thunderstorms may damage vulnerable infrastructure including mud houses, electric poles, billboards and vehicles.
Travelers and tourists have been advised to remain alert, plan journeys with caution, and stay updated on weather conditions to avoid any untoward incidents during the spell of heavy rains.
