In a joint operation of the Department of Excise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Excise Intelligence, 23.46 kilograms of heroin were seized, and one accused was arrested in Charsadda, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to details, the Excise team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no.AWA-409 at Pashtun Garhi Road, Charsadda, and recovered 23,400 grams of heroin, which was tactfully hidden in the secret parts of the vehicle. The market value of the seized heroin is in millions.
Excise team arrested the accused, who was identified as Umar Khan son of Gul Roz Khan on the spot. The accused is a resident of Samar Bagh, district Lower Dir.
Excise police, after registering a case, started an investigation. After the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise Syed Fakhar Jahan, a crackdown against drug peddlers is underway.
He further directed that a zero-tolerance policy be adopted against drug peddlers. He warned that anyone found involved in drug trafficking will be dealt with an iron hand.
