Longest-running TV Host and former actress Nida Yasir has shared an interesting parenting experience and revealed that her eldest son once stopped playing outside after she taught him not to use abusive language.
During a conversation with a therapist, Nida shared a vivid memory of being strict about teaching her son good manners and advising him not to swear, lie, or engage in inappropriate behaviour.
However, her efforts had an unexpected result. Nida said her son eventually stopped going outside to play with other children.
When she asked him about it, he reportedly told her that the children in the street used abusive language and behaved badly, which made him prefer staying at home.
Nida said the experience made her think about a common dilemma faced by parents: while mothers want their children to be polite and well-mannered, they also need to prepare them to deal with the realities of the outside world.
She also questioned how children can develop confidence and learn to handle difficult situations if they are raised in an overly sheltered environment.
The guest agreed with Nida’s concern and explained that children also need community interaction to grow and learn how to navigate different kinds of people.
