Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of the National Assembly Sehar Kamran on Monday submitted a calling attention notice in the National Assembly over the non-payment and delayed payment of salaries to journalists and other media workers, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

In the notice, she drew the attention of the Minister for Information and Broadcasting towards the issue, stating that several television channels were allegedly failing to pay salaries to journalists and media workers on time despite receiving government advertisements and other official payments.

Sehar also raised questions over the effective implementation of labour rights for media workers and the regulatory responsibilities of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

She called on the Minister for Information and Broadcasting to provide an explanation and make a statement on the matter in the National Assembly.

The notice stated that non-payment of salaries was causing severe financial difficulties for media workers and their families, and stressed the need to ensure timely salary payments so they could perform their professional duties with financial security and peace of mind.
