The death of Controller General Accounts Khurram Humayun has been registered as a suicide case in Rawat police daily dairy.
Fakhar, brother of the deceased, told the police that the BS-22 officer was tense because of a NAB case and Khurram’s guard informed him about the ‘source of stress’.
Reportedly, Khurram ended his life in the wee hours of Tuesday after telling his ‘family friends’ about his worries after a NAB reference filed earlier this year.
However, a spokesperson for NAB reportedly said that Khurram was not in custody. While reference was filed six months ago, it is subjudice, the spokesperson said, adding that the accountability watchdog rejects the allegations as it always believes in performing duties as per the law.
Sources in family and friends of Khurram said he was getting himself prepared for NAB probe and he has applied for a three-month leave for the purpose.
