Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has returned from the election commission, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
The meeting presided over by the Chief Election Commissioner is over. The chief election commissioner remained in his office for almost two and a half hours.
No instructions have so far been received to hold elections tomorrow, sources in the ECP said.
There is no logistical support for the election in the morning, the insiders said, adding that staff dearth is also a big issue.
Earlier in the day, the IHC issued orders to hold the local government election in the federal capital tomorrow (December 31).
However, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said the court order is not enforceable. It will take five months to conduct the election, he said adding that immediate arrangements for thousands of polling stations are not possible while the Rangers and FC will need to be called.
