Pakistan’s mobile phone manufacturing sector recorded significant growth in 2025, with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reporting both monthly and annual increases in local production, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to the PTA, November 2025 saw a 7 percent month-on-month increase in locally manufactured mobile phones, while annual production rose by 8 percent compared to the same month last year. A total of 2.49 million units were produced in November 2025, up from 2.31 million units in November 2024.
The report highlighted a notable improvement in domestic production overall. During the first 11 months of 2025, a total of 27.6 million mobile phones were manufactured locally. Of these, 14.51 million were smartphones, accounting for 53 percent of total production, while 2G phones comprised 47 percent, with 13.09 million units produced.
The PTA further noted that approximately 88 percent of domestic demand is now being met through locally manufactured phones. Production among the country’s top 10 mobile manufacturers has also seen steady growth.
In the first 11 months of 2025, Infinix produced 3.47 million units, VigoTel 3.07 million, Intel 2.2 million, Tecno 1.73 million, Samsung 1.57 million, and QMobile 1.06 million units.
Looking ahead, the PTA expects local mobile phone production to continue growing at an annual rate of 7 to 8 percent in 2026. The report attributed this growth to the stability of the Pakistani rupee and the lower prices of locally produced, technologically advanced smartphones.
