The Lahore administration has stepped up preparations for Basant (festival of kites), with Lahore Commissioner Maryam Khan directing all assistant commissioners and relevant departments to remain in the field on the upcoming holiday to ensure strict implementation of safety rules across the city.
According to official instructions, the leave of administrative officers has been suspended, and all officers have been ordered to actively supervise arrangements and practical measures related to the festival.
Commissioner Maryam Khan emphasized that assistant commissioners and their teams must ensure enforcement of the guidelines issued for the protection of citizens during Basant. She also directed that awareness campaigns launched through Basant camps across the city should continue, along with the installation of safety rods.
Acting on the instructions of the chief minister of Punjab, the commissioner stressed that awareness regarding Basant safety rules must reach every citizen. She urged officers to engage the public, seek their cooperation and work collectively to make the festival safe and successful.
The administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety while allowing citizens to celebrate Basant responsibly.
