Pakistan’s spinners created history in Twenty20 cricket by claiming all 10 Australian wickets in a single innings, a rare feat achieved during the second T20 International of the three-match series in Lahore.
The milestone came as Pakistan thrashed Australia by 90 runs at Gaddafi Stadium to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Chasing 199, Australia were bowled out for 108 in just 16 overs, unable to counter Pakistan’s spin-heavy attack.
It marked the first time in Pakistan’s T20 history that spinners accounted for all 10 wickets in an innings.
Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan led the charge with three wickets apiece, while Usman Tariq picked up two.
Saeem Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz claimed one wicket each to complete the unprecedented effort.
Overall, it was only the 10th instance in men’s T20 cricket where an entire innings fell to spin bowling.
Among full-member nations, it was just the second such occurrence, following India’s achievement against the West Indies in Florida in 2022.
Earlier, Pakistan posted 198 for five in their allotted 20 overs, setting the platform for a dominant display with the ball that underlined their control of the contest and sealed a memorable series victory.
