Seeking arguments from former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s lawyers on their client’s acquittal plea in the nikah case on the next hearing, District and Sessions court in Islamabad on Monday adjourned the case’s hearing until September 5, 2023, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Civil Judge Qudratullah also accepted PTI chairman and his wife Bushra Bibi’s lawyers’ request for granting one-day exemption to their clients from appearance in the court.

Two weeks ago, on July 18, 2023, District and Sessions Court in Islamabad had declared that the petition challenging Imran’s nikah with Bushra Bibi was admissible for the hearing.

The court issued notices to the PTI chairman and Bushra Bibi for July 20.

On July 13, Sessions Judge Azam Khan had accepted an appeal filed against the PTI chairman in the nikah case.

It may be recalled here that Civil Judge Nasr Minallah had declared the case against the PTI chairman as non-maintainable, saying it was beyond the court’s jurisdiction.
