A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday, seeking formation of a judicial commission to probe the Islamia University Bahawalpur sex and drugs scandal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mashkoor Hussain, a citizen, filed the petition in the court in which he made chief secretary, inspector general of police, Punjab, director general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and others respondents in the case.
Three days ago, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) had formed a five-member fact-finding committee, headed by Bahauddin Zakariya University Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali, on the scandal.
The committee members included International University Lahore Pro-Vice Chancellor Najma Najam, Imperial College of Business Studies Lahore Rector Tahira Aziz Mughal and P&D Finance Advisor Mazhar Saeed.
Islamia University Bahawalpur is under probe after a special report by police alleged sale of drugs and sexual exploitation of students and teachers. The police based its claims on sexually explicit videos found on the mobile phones of the university staff.
The police have said they have arrested the IUB treasurer and reportedly recovered meth and aphrodisiacs from him, while the varsity’s chief of security is accused of possessing objectionable videos of students and staff members.
