The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 clash between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi at Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium was abandoned on Tuesday after rain left the outfield unfit for play, with both teams awarded one point.

The match had been delayed earlier in the evening because of rain, but officials later called it off after the wet outfield prevented any play.

Under PSL rules, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi took one point each from the washed-out fixture.

Tournament organisers said the wet outfield made play impossible despite efforts to prepare the ground after the showers.

The abandonment denied fans a highly anticipated clash between two of the league’s leading sides and meant both Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi had to settle for a point apiece under tournament rules.

The washout came after persistent rain in Lahore had already pushed back the scheduled start of the evening fixture, raising uncertainty over whether even a shortened match could be played.

PSL 11 action is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, when Multan Sultans will take on Hyderabad Kingsmen in the next match.
