The Senate on Monday witnessed a ruckus on the issue of discussing the Broadsheet Inquiry Commission report soon after a motion was tabled in the House.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the PTI Senator Mohsin Aziz moved the motion in the House on which three ministers started to reply at a time.
Meanwhile, all the opposition members also started hue and cry then the chairman snubbed the ministers first saying to reply to one minister only and requested the opposition members to be quiet.
In favour of discussing the Broadsheet issue in the Senate, the mover, Mohsin said the inquiry report must be presented in the House as an important matter. Mohsin said the country was being looted by white-collar crime and people involved in such cases got escape through ‘Muk-Muka’ (give and take).
He said it was a misfortune that the small thief come under arrest and punished but the big fish remained at large from the grip of the law and justice. He added white-collar criminals were out of the reach of the law.
The PTI Senator said some hot talks were observed in the past on the Broadsheet issue and then it was sent to cold storage for some better time in the future. And, such kind of things did the people who had already many dead bodies (issues) in their cupboards.
He said there could be erupted a short circuit of electricity to burn the record related to the Broadsheet company and its inquiry report too if it was not a PTI government. Leader of the House Shehzad Waseem said that the opposition started hue and cry whenever PTI tried to expose their facts of previous governments and the leaderships.
PM Advisor on Accountability Shehzad Akbar said his government was ready to table the Broadsheet report in the House and if someone had any complaint regarding it then the doors of the courts were open for them. Shehzad Akbar said former premier of PPP Yousuf Raza Gilani was disqualified in contempt of court case and Pakistan received a loss of US$72 million of not to write a letter to the Swiss Court of Justice in his tenure.
After some debate, the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani advised the government to send the copies of the Broadsheet Inquiry Commission Report at the house addresses of all Senate members. Later he adjourned the session. The Broadsheet case, officially known as the "Broadsheet vs Islamic Republic of Pakistan and NAB" case, is an ongoing legal case related to the non-payment of service fees to asset recovery company 'Broadsheet LLC' by the Government of Pakistan.
