A police official was martyred, and several suspects were killed or injured during a series of eight separate police encounters in Larkana, Faisalabad and Lahore, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

In Larkana, an exchange of fire between police and armed suspects resulted in the martyrdom of a police officer identified as Mujeeb ur Rehman Solangi, while another officer, Naimatullah Memon, sustained injuries.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station near Ghanti Phatak, where police were reportedly pursuing suspected dacoits who opened fire on them.

The injured officer and the body of the martyred policeman were shifted to the trauma centre of Chandka Hospital.

Following the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the area and established checkpoints as search operations continued.

In Faisalabad, police conducted six separate encounters in different areas, resulting in the death of one alleged shooter identified as Abid, while four other suspects were wounded and taken into custody.

Police said incidents were reported in Thikriwala, Peoples Colony, Jhumra, Raza Abad and Dijkot areas, where operations targeted individuals involved in various criminal activities, including bike theft and robbery.

In Lahore’s Shadbagh area, a suspected dacoit was killed during a police encounter.

The deceased, identified as Syed Sajjad, was allegedly involved in more than 180 criminal cases, including robbery, theft and illegal possession of weapons, according to police officials.
