At least four people were killed and four others injured after a speeding vehicle struck them at Athal Chowk in the Bara Kahu area of Islamabad, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to police sources, two of the deceased have been identified as Mohammad Fazal and Amir.
As per the channel report, the identities of the remaining two victims have yet to be confirmed.
The injured were shifted to hospital for medical treatment, while police began collecting evidence from the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Police said the driver of the vehicle fled immediately after the collision.
However, authorities have taken the vehicle into custody and launched an investigation into the incident.
Police said efforts were under way to trace and arrest the driver, while further inquiries are continuing.
