Megyn Kelly has blasted Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney over her daring see-through gown at the Variety Power of Women: Los Angeles event, claiming the actress may have been “tricked” into wearing it.
During Thursday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the conservative commentator criticized the 28-year-old’s sparkly silver dress, calling it “completely see-through” and “inappropriate” for the occasion.
“I object to this. I disapprove of the dress she wore because it’s completely see-through. You can see her entire nipples,” Kelly said, adding that while Sweeney’s “breasts are enormous and spectacular,” the look crossed the line.
Kelly went on to compare Sweeney’s revealing fashion choice to Kim Kardashian’s notorious style. “She reminded me of Kim Kardashian, who overshares and takes away the thing that’s actually sexiest, leaving a little to the imagination,” she added.
The former Fox News anchor, who insists she’s “a Sydney Sweeney fan,” suggested that the actress may have been pressured or misguided by stylists to push boundaries for publicity.
“I think she might have been misled into it,” Kelly said. “Like when I did a saucy photoshoot for GQ, my dress was just a slip . I never showed anything close to areola. But she’s young, and I bet somebody brought that dress to her saying, ‘Let’s take it next level,’ and she trusted the wrong person.”
Sweeney, known for her confident red carpet looks, turned heads at the Los Angeles event in the bold ensemble, a glittering silver gown featuring a sheer bodice that showcased her curves. The White Lotus actress styled her new platinum bob and opted for soft-glam makeup, including pink blush, nude lips, and fluttery lashes.
Despite the controversy, Sweeney appeared unfazed, posing confidently for photographers and mingling with fellow honorees, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Nicole Scherzinger, Wanda Sykes, and Kate Hudson.
The actress, who was recognized for her achievements in entertainment, also took a moment to reflect on the end of Euphoria’s third season. “It’s going to be a really bittersweet moment,” she told Variety on the red carpet. “It’s been my entire twenties. They’ve been my family.”
Sweeney’s red carpet appearance came just a day after she went viral for attending the 2025 World Series in Los Angeles, where she delighted fans by eating a hot dog in the stands alongside boxer Christy Martin whom she will portray in the upcoming biopic Christy.
The Anyone But You star also recently addressed online speculation about cosmetic surgery, insisting she’s “never gotten anything done.” “I’m absolutely terrified of needles,” she told Variety. “No tattoos, nothing. I’m going to age gracefully.”
