Popular Pakistani actress and model Ayesha Omar too has come out with her #MeToo story.
Talking to Rose McGowan, American actress and activist who was one of the women at the forefront of the #MeToo Movement against American film producer Harvey Weinstein, during a live Instagram session, Ayesha said, “I have been struggling with my own story. I have been a victim of sexual harassment as well. This happened very early on in my career. I was only 23 years old. I had just moved to Karachi, just out of college. And I was sexually harassed by someone twice my age, very very powerful.

“And it did not stop. It wasn’t one of the incidents; it happened multiple times and I did not have the courage to talk about it to anybody. It was only two years ago that I finally, when another friend of mine decided to face her own story and come out with it, … got the strength to talk about it. I do tell [about it]. My friends know who it is, but publically I haven’t been able to reveal my story. And obviously because of the aftermath and everything that any victim has to deal with, A) trauma, what he or she went through.

“And if that wasn’t traumatic enough, the continuous trauma after the victim/the person will come out with their experience and the battle that starts, which is just as excruciating as the one proceeding it. I have myself seen a few examples. People who have come out with their stories, their names have been dragged in the ground, slandered, there is a lot of victim blaming. So obviously that scares most people from every coming out with their stories.”
