In what comes as a huge relief to the government servants, the Supreme Court has ordered to give 20% secretariat allowance to all employees of the federal government.

Entertaining the government servants’ appeal, the SC declared the verdict of Islamabad High Court’s Division Bench as null and void.

The apex court remarked that the federal government cannot discriminate against its employees, noting that all the federal employees would be liable to 20% secretariat allowance.

Defence lawyer Shoaib Shaheen argued that only those employees working under ministries were liable to the secretariat allowance. Those employees working in other departments were deprived of the said allowance.

“How could the government discriminate among its employees?” the lawyer argued.

SC rejects Ranger’s appeal against sacking

The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal against the removal of a Rangers’ official involved in drug smuggling. In its decision, the court said how could the court let go a person who brought bad name to the Army and Rangers.

Presided by the Chief Justice, a three-member bench heard the case. The lawyer of the accused said that the DG Rangers has no authority to remove its official, the most he can do is to award slight punishment.

The lawyer further argued that there are no laws defined for removing an official like his client has been by the DG Rangers.

On this, the apex court remarked that these are serious allegations against Tashkeel Ijaz Khan, who was allegedly involved in smuggling goods to India.

The other allegations proved against Tashkeel Ijaz included the drug smuggling, besides going on long leave for five months without any notification.

The apex court rejected the appeal against the Ranger’s removal from service.
