Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam on Monday said a good spinner like Yasir Shah could produce positive results for the team, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing the media ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, Babar said: “For us to succeed in Sri Lankan conditions that typically support spinners, Nauman Ali and Mohammad Nawaz are the other two crucial options."

Babar said: "We have prepared hard, we have trained very well”.

Babar Azam said that it was team’s first tour of Sri Lanka since 2015.

Babar revealed that the team practiced the spin challenge on special pitches.

"Spin pitches were specially prepared at the National High-Performance Center (NHPC), while practise matches were also played on similar types of tracks in Rawalpindi," he added.

Babar said that the Sri Lankan conditions are quite identical to Pakistan, adding that the batters are all set to practice the skills of sweeping shots in Lahore on spinning tracks.

On July 6, the national cricket team will fly to Sri Lanka. While Pakistan will compete in a three-day exhibition game from July 11 to 13.

The first Test will begin on July 16 in Galle, and the second Test will begin on July 24 in Colombo.
