Pakistan neither has US military bases nor any such agreement: FO

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has said that Pakistan neither has any US military bases in the country nor there any agreement between the two countries, reported 24News HD TV channel.

Speaking during a weekly media briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said that Pakistan and the US had the framework of cooperation in terms of Air Lines of Communication (ALOC) and Ground Lines of Communication (GLOC) in place since 2001.

He said, “We want a peaceful situation in Afghanistan. We do not want any security vacuum after the international forces leave Afghanistan.”

Answering a question related to Pakistan’s stance on the situation in IOJK, the foreign office spokesperson said that there was absolutely no change in Pakistan’s position. He further said, “In this regard, you must have recently seen the statements made by Pakistani leadership, clearly stipulating Pakistan’s principled position on the issue.” He stressed upon India to level the ground for fruitful dialogue on the issue. He also asked the international community to take notice of Indian brutalities on unarmed Kashmiris.

On the Palestine issue, he said the ceasefire announced on May 21 was a positive step while for planning was needed permanent solution of Palestine issue.

About UAE visas, he said the foreign minister had repeatedly addressed this issue in his media interactions. He said the issue had already been discussed numerous times in my media briefings as well and if there would be any further development, they would share it.

As for the issue of approved vaccines before travelling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and umrah, Pakistan has have proposed the inclusion of some of the Chinese vaccines used in Pakistan in the list of vaccines approved by the Saudi authorities, he said.

He said the Israeli minister’s statement was unacceptable and using the picture of the Pakistani building was condemnable.
