ECP announces new date for KPK local body elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced a new schedule for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) local body elections, on the behalf of which elections in 17 districts will be held on December 19, reported 24NewsHD TV on Thursday.

The new schedule came after a Peshawar High Court’s decision to hold the local; bodies elections on a partisan basis.

The polling for local body elections in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be held on December 19.

The ECP has extended the deadline for submission of nomination papers to implement the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

According to the schedule, candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers by November 10.

The scrutiny of candidates' papers will be held from November 12 to 14.

Appeals for acceptance or rejection of papers can be filed from November 15 to 17.

According to the schedule, the appellate tribunal will give the decision on the appeals by November 19, while the candidates will be allotted election symbols by November 23.
