The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has inked an agreement with a Portuguese air company allowing alternate arrangements to resume its flight operations for Britain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Portuguese airline HiFly’s modern A330 Airbus planes with over 300 passengers capacity will be used for the charter flights to resume PIA operation to the United Kingdom.
The PIA will charter an aircraft from the international company and utilise it for its flights to Europe.
According to PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan, the foreign airline will use PIA’s call sign and slot during the flight, adding that the operation of the flights will begin from August 14.
Abdullah Khan said PIA flight PK-9702 carrying over 250 passengers will leave Manchester for Islamabad and on August 15 flight PK-9785 will take off from Islamabad Airport to London.
The PIA spokesman said booking for these direct flights has opened and the first flight has already been fully booked.
The PIA is also providing 45-kg package for every passenger on these flights. The travellers will also avail inflight entertainment.
The spokesman said the PIA has been receiving requests that more and more flights should be started from Manchester.
After PIA’s suspension in Europe, other airlines have heavily increased their fares which are expected to come down after the start of these direct flights.
According to INP, HiFly is a Portuguese charter airline headquartered in Lisbon. It has four wide-body aircraft –two new Airbus A330-900s, one Airbus A330-200 and one A340-300.
PIA’s competitor on the route, British Airways, has also announced that it will resume flight operations to Pakistan from London Heathrow Airport from August 14.
The airline said it will start direct flights three times between Heathrow Airport and Islamabad and will be taking extra precautionary measures for the safety of its crew and passengers.
Last week, PIA had announced that it will be operating flights from Paris to Pakistan starting August 15 to provide facilities to its passengers and bring them to the country.
