Punjab Police on Friday declare all the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders innocent in the cases registered against them during the long march.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the police acquitted the PTI leaders in four cases and removed the sections on terrorism from the cases.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abhar Gul Khan heard the interim bails of PTI leaders in four cases of vandalism, damage to government property and torture of police during the Long March.
PTI leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Mahmood-ul-Rashid, Shafqat Mahmood, Murad Ras, Musrat Jamshed Cheema, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema and Andalib Abbas and other named accused appeared in the court.
The investigating officer acquitted the PTI leaders in four different cases in the report submitted to the Judge.
The investigating officer told the court that all the accused are innocent and that the accused will be discharged from the cases soon.
On this, Malik Burhan Muazzam, the lawyer of the accused, said that there is no need to provide bail, on which the leaders requested to withdraw their bail which was accepted.
After acquitting in the cases, the PTI leaders made a sign of victory outside the court and said today it has been proved that all the cases were false and there is no justification for terrorism cases against political figures.
Cases under terrorism provisions were registered against PTI leaders in Shahdara, Gulberg, Bhati Gate and Shafiqabad police stations.
