No change in Chinese flights operation: CAA

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has rejected reports that Pakistan has suspended all flights from China.

Rejecting a statement attributed to Special Assistant on Health Dr Zafar Mirza, a CAA spokesperson said flights operation with China is in full swing. “We have issued no directions banning flights from China,” he added.

The spokesperson further said “We are regularly screening all the passengers on flights coming from China. Airports all over the country are following the SOPs of World Health Organization”

Earlier Health Ministry and Dr Zafar Mirza contradicted each other’s statements regarding flights from China. Health Ministry spokesperson announced a ban on flight operations with China, quoting Dr Zafar Mirza, while the special assistant negated any such news.

NIH clears three suspected cases

The National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad has cleared all the three suspected coronavirus cases reported in different areas of KP province.

The suspected cases were reported one each at Lady Reading Hospital (LRC), DHQ Hospital Bajaur and Bacha Khan Medical Complex Swabi. The NIH cleared the cases after complete clinical examination of the simples.

Rs100m to fight virus

The KP government has released Rs100 million to the provincial health department to deal with coronavirus.

The chief minister approved release of the funds to ensure better diagnostic and treatment facilities to coronavirus patients.

KP Health Secretary Yahya Akhund expressed the hope that foolproof arrangements will be made with the funds to check spread of the virus and deal with it. Funds release will also help to provide better facilities to suspected coronavirus cases at Services Hospital in Peshawar.

Man booked over hoaxes

The Chitral Police booked a Drosh resident for spreading ‘hoaxes’ about coronavirus in the area. The police, on the directives of the district administration, registered the case against the man for posting fake news about coronavirus on social media. The Chitral DC said that the accused panicked local population with fake posts about coronavirus.

University of Chinese Medicine students

The Pakistani students from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine applauded the initiatives taken by Chinese government on coronavirus. Students Shah Nawaz, Farooq and Waqar from Kohat, Swat and Dir respectively said in a video message that they are safe in China. They said they are provided Halal food, but it costs too much. They appealed to Pakistan embassy in China to resolve this issue. Students also said they are happy with all the steps taken by the Chinese government.
