A spokesperson for Jamiat Ulema Islam has rejected a report about Mufti Kafayatullah’s refuge in Larkana in a bid to escape an arrest on charges of anti-army remarks.

JUI district chief Nasir Mehmood Somro rubbished the report of a private channel claiming that Mufti Kafayatullah is hiding in Larkana.

Mufti Kafayatullah is not present in Larkana, Nasir said, adding that the report is baseless.

The channel quoted sources as saying that the KP government on the directives of the federal cabinet lodged a first information report (FIR) against JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah for speaking against the state institutions.

The report added the interior minister warned that legal action over anti-state remarks by politicians would be taken and the first case will be registered against Kifayatullah.
