Two women died in rain-related incidents in Quetta, the capital of the country’s largest province, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Monday.

Several people sustained wounds while the downpour inflicted heavy damage upon public properties. 

Reports of house collapses were received from Sariab Road Link Badini of the provincial capital.

The bodies and the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital while the rescue operation is underway.

A vehicle was swept away on Sariab Road. Citizens saved children stuck in the car.

Government reps issued statements claiming to have done well and supervised the rescue operation.

In Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, New Karachi and Sohrab Goth Cattle Market were inundated. A total of 23mm was recorded in Surjani Town.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took to the inundated streets to monitor the measures being adopted to cope with the challenge emerging after heavy rains.

The Meteorological Department predicted the spell to go on for a couple of days. Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources Saeed Ghani asked the officials concerned to set up a control room in the office of District Municipal Corporation East.

Rainfall is recorded in Gulistan-e-Johar, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Gadap Town, National Highway, Bahria Town, Malir, Shahrah-e-Faisal and suburban areas of the city. Reports of power cuts were received in Baldia Town, Orangi Town, and other areas of the city.

Administrator Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab too on tour to monitor the situation, saying steps should be taken to prevent water from entering the houses. 

No stone will be left unturned to save the life and property of the people, he added.
