Swabi residents resist girls college plan

Residents of the Chota Lahore area in Swabi District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday made a scene when Abdul Karim Khan, Adviser to KP CM Mehmood Khan, came to lay the foundation of a girls college at local ground, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The local police had to intervene and rushed in heavy contingent to avoid any untoward incident as the residents resorting to pelting stones on officials who came to attend the event.

However, the police managed to provide safety cover to the adviser and took him to a safer place.

The KP government has allocated Rs90 million for an intermediate college on the land of ground while five kanals and 17 marlas land has already been transferred to the Education Department.

Abdul Karim Khan vowed to state the real facts to the local people. However, he refused to lodge an FIR or initiate legal action against the trouble-makers.
