Pakistan Women’s League to kick off on Women’s Day in Rawalpindi

All the local players selected for Women’s League exhibition matches to be played in Rawalpindi have reported to the team hotel in Islamabad on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.   

All foreign players invited for taking part in the Pakistan Women League will report to the team hotel by Monday (tomorrow).

Three exhibition matches will be played ahead of the PSL 8 matches in Rawalpindi on 8, 10 and 11 March. The women’s matches will start at 2pm and will be followed by the men’s matches at 7pm.

Ten foreign players have been confirmed for the exhibition matches, including Ireland’s Laura Delany, England’s Lauren Winfield-Hill, Maia Bouchier, and Tammy Beaumont, Australia’s Tess Flintoff, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, Bangladesh's Jahanara Alam, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, and New Zealand’s Lea Tahuhu.

The foreign players expressed their excitement about the event in a video message released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). They look forward to playing in front of the Pindi crowd and supporting women's cricket in Pakistan. 

Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced two squads for the exhibition matches. 

Team Amazons will be led by Bisma Maruf while Superwoman team will be captained by Nida Dar.

Both teams will participate in the training session at Islamabad Cricket Club tomorrow morning. PCB will release training videos and photos.

The captains of both teams will talk to the media at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium at 5:15 pm on March 6.
