Downpour damage:  Pakistan stands by Afghanistan, says FO

Pakistan has expressed solidarity with Afghanistan over the loss of precious lives and the devastation caused by flash floods.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said Thursday that the government and the people of Pakistan pray that the Almighty may grant patience and fortitude to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.

It said Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has also expressed solidarity with the Afghans in the hour of need and promised relief assistance 

Islamabad has also urged the international community to help the already suffering Afghan people to overcome the losses caused by this calamity.

"We are with the Afghan people in this difficult hour and will provide them every possible assistance,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday. Pakistan’s prime minister said that every possible support will be extended to the Afghan people.

 “I urge the international community to help the already suffering Afghan people on an emergency basis. Pakistan will also extend assistance to our Afghan brothers and sisters,” the PM said on Twitter.

Flooding and storms in 12 provinces killed nearly 22 people and injured 40, according to Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority.
