An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad dismissed a murder case against PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar and others over the alleged killing of PTI workers during the 2014 sit-in, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The case was filed by Shah Mehmood Qureshi against the then prime minister and other government members. Nisar was serving as interior minister at that time.

Raja Jawad Abbas – the anti-terrorism court judge – announced the judgment which had been reserved earlier after police filed a report, calling for dismissing the case.

However, Qureshi, the complainant in the first information report, had opposed the suggestion and requested the court to hold a trial.

The same court had earlier acquitted Prime Minister Imran Khan in the 2014 Parliament attack case while halting the proceedings against President Arif Alvi as he enjoys immunity for being in the office.
